Golf Swing Lesson – Choosing The Right Golf Swing Lesson

By: Robert Taylor

Ever watched Tiger Woods play and think to yourself, "That doesn't look too hard"? And have you then found yourself on a practice green taking a swing of your golf club and finding out that maybe there is a little bit more to it? Then you need to look at taking a golf swing lesson – not only will it help you reach a lower handicap, but a successful golf swing lesson will also help improve your overall game. The good news is that arranging a lesson is fairly easy to do, although it can be expensive. But, as they say, practice makes perfect!

Although it is possible to read books or find online guides to help you with your golf game, if you truly wish to improve your swing, then you should really be signing up with a professional instructor, who can help you to quickly and successfully improve your golf swing. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the best method is to choose one that's a member of the PGA, or Professional Golfers Association of America. If you recognise the name, it's because it's what all professional golf competitions are run by.

By choosing a PGA-certified instructor, you can be sure that they have all passed an extremely thorough and rigorous process to become certified. This includes golfing studies, green management as well as golf course management, as well as successfully completing and passing an aptitude test. Even then, it's an ongoing process, so you know that these instructors are up—to-date with all the latest golf news and changes.

Usually around an hour long, the most common place for your golf swing lesson is at a dedicated driving range. You can also use a full golf course as well, although for your training purposes, a range is more than adequate. You may also find that the golf shop at your chosen course or range has a screen and computer set-up, that actually monitors your swing and shows you where you're going wrong. Similar in looks to a home computer game, this is a far more thorough way of enabling you to get the most success out of your golf swing lessons. Combine this with a video camera that can also show you where you're going wrong, and you can understand why these lessons are so valuable.

If you don't have a golf course near you, it's still relatively straightforward to arrange a golf swing lesson. You can either use the Yellow Pages and its directory list, or go online and use a search engine like Google to find your nearest course with a qualified professional instructor. Once you've contacted your local golf range or course, it's simply a matter of arranging a schedule to suit your needs. However, be aware that you should be serious about wanting to improve your golf swing, as the lessons can cost between $50-100 per hour.

If you wish to take things a little bit further, then you can actually arrange a vacation to a golfing academy. One of the benefits of these is that it is a dedicated golfing holiday – so, not only do you get more one-to-one time to ensure a successful golf swing lesson, you can also then enjoy a round of golf with the instructors themselves. With these and many more options available to you to improve your game, it won't be long before your golf swing lesson starts to reap the dividends for you, making this wonderful game even more fun than it already is.
